No geniuses allowed
‘Great Trivia Quest’ promises prizes and food, but mostly fun

The 3rd Annual Great Trivia Quest will be held 5-9 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Thirsty Whale in Minocqua.
According to Barbara Schjoneman, a committee member of the Volunteers for Howard Young Medical Center, the evening is full of “great prizes, great food, and great fun.”
“This is a wonderful evening to get together with friends, enjoy some food and drinks, and play some trivia. No geniuses allowed,” she said with a laugh.
The Great Trivia Quest, Schjoneman explained, is a fundraising event for the Volunteers of Howard Young Medical Center with all proceeds going to the group’s Scholarship Fund. Each year between nine and 12 scholarships, totaling anywhere from $20,000 to $25,000, are awarded to area students pursuing careers in the health care field.
This year’s event, says Schjoneman, will offer bucket raffles and a 50/50 raffle. Some of the larger raffle prizes include a kayak package, a $400 restaurant package, and overnight stays at The Waters of Minocqua and The Lake of the Torches.
Tickets for The Great Trivia Quest are $30 per person, or $180 for a full team of six players, which includes a light meal and snacks throughout the evening. The Thirsty Whale will be preparing the meal which will feature hot beef, potato salad and all of the fixings.
The Thirsty Whale is located at 453 Park St. in Minocqua.
Tickets can be purchased Monday through Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the Howard Young Medical Center’s Volunteer Gift Shop, or by contacting Kathy Viergutz at 715-356-8677.
