Celebrate fall with Northwoods events
Mercer Public Library Fall Celebration
The Friends of the Mercer Library will be hosting its annual Fall Celebration Saturday, Sept. 21, from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the Mercer Library and the adjoining Mercer Community Center.
This highly-anticipated event will include a full catered Italian dinner, as well as wine, beer, soda and dessert. The evening will also feature a live auction with auctioneer Danny O’Sullivan and silent auctions on items donated by community members and local businesses. Back by popular demand is the “Wine Pull” and the always-popular Book Basket Raffles.
Tickets for the Fall Celebration are $30 and can be purchased at the library. Doors open at 5 p.m. with dinner seating beginning at 6 p.m., followed by the live auction and raffle drawings.
All proceeds benefit the Friends of the Mercer Public Library, which supports programming, new equipment and furnishings for the library and other services not included in the library budget.

Coffee and Coloring is held the second and last Fridays of the month, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the library. Come in and enjoy a relaxing afternoon of coloring while sharing a cup of coffee with others
Catch the rhythm of urban Brazil with Paulo Padilha and Bando. This free concert takes place Tuesday, Sept. 24 from 1-2:30 p.m. at the library. Paulo’s bright music, mischievous humor and clever lyrics invite audiences to reflect on everything from parents to philosophy, and focus on telling stories of the urban lifestyle in Brazil. He is a master musician and educator who specializes in rhythm and song workshops for children, teens and adults. Experience the samba swing that will make you want to dance all the way home. This program is sponsored by Arts Midwest and the Historic Ironwood Theater as part of the Arts Midwest World Fest program.
Sasquatch Sip & Stroll
Local brews are highlighted during the Sasquatch Sip & Stroll, which takes participants on a hike through the forest at North Lakeland Discovery Center. The first year event takes place 5-7:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21.
Collect tickets along the trail with verified sightings of Sasquatch to win prizes. Turn in your evidence and spin the prize wheel. Prizes include a 100th year anniversary Packers football signed by the 2018 team, handcrafted Sasquatch mugs, NLDC swag, and lots more. After the stroll, enjoy some snacks and lakeside music by Carol Warden and Tyler Watkins. Pick up some 50/50 raffle tickets (they are only $1) for a chance to win the jackpot. This first-time event will surely be an evening not to be missed. Tickets are $30 in advance or $40 at the event.

18th Annual Friends of the Library Wine & Beer Tasting
The Friends of the Boulder Junction Public Library will be hosting the 18th Annual Wine & Beer Tasting Saturday, Oct. 5 from 5-8 p.m. at the Boulder Junction Community Center.
A ticket donation of $20 per person will be taken at the door or tickets can be purchased in advance at the library. The ticket price includes the wine and beer tasting, plentiful appetizers, delicious desserts and one free general raffle ticket.
The Friends will be offering a collection of wines and beers with assistance from Alder Lake Cranberry Gift Shop, Coontail Market and Aqualand Ale House. Non-alcoholic beverages will also be available.
Members of the Friends of the Library and local businesses have donated wonderful gift baskets, as well as store merchandise and gift certificates.
The Friends will be repeating the popular silent auction. Local merchants, craftsmen and Friends members have donated high quality, unique items which will be offered through a silent auction instead of the raffle. All proceeds from the event will be used to help with library operating expenditures. Participants must be at least 21 years of age.
