Obituary: Norman Alsteens Sr.

Norman “Blackie” L. Alsteens Sr., age 85 of the town of Pine Lake, died at home Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019. He was born April 17, 1934 in Rhinelander to Alexander H. and Sylvia A. (Garrow) Alsteens.
Norman served in the Navy during the Korean War.
He is survived by his children, Nick Alsteens of Minneapolis, Sylvia (Jim) Alsteens-Hammond of Hutchinson, Minn., Renee Alsteens of Knoxville, Tenn., Norman (Kim) Alsteens Jr. of Rhinelander and Eric (Heidi) Alsteens of Rhinelander; 12 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Alsteens of Eagle River; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Norman is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou Alsteens; and by seven brothers and five sisters.
A graveside service with military honors will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, at 2 p.m. at Forest Home Cemetery. (Hildebrand Funeral Home)
