Northwoods artist Robert Metropulos won the 2020 Wisconsin waterfowl contest with an image of a pair of wood ducks. His painting of a hen and rooster pheasant in a snow-covered field took second place in the pheasant stamp category. He has won several state duck and pheasant competitions and has placed fifth and seventh in the national duck stamp competition. Metropulos has been painting since he was in high school and owns Parkside Gallery in Minocqua.

The Department of Natural Resources received a total of 28 pieces of artwork from 16 different wildlife artists for the wild turkey, pheasant and waterfowl stamp design contest. Judging took place July 24 in Madison.
