Obituary: James Counter
James Counter, age 79 of Rhinelander, died Thursday, May 30, 2019, at the Country Terrace in Rhinelander. He was born Feb. 7, 1940, in Rhinelander to Cletus and Jean (Leonard) Counter. James served in the Navy as an A-7 pilot during the Vietnam War and continued to serve actively both home and abroad; after active service he became an instructor instructor and was also Commander of the Reserve Center in Green Bay.
James is survived by his wife Vivian; daughters, Candy (Pat) Marquart and Kristine (Jamie) Roberts; son, James (Lori Carlson) Counter II, six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and m any friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Michael.
Visitation will take place 9:30-11 a.m., followed by a memorial service for James at 11 a.m., Thursday, June 6, with visitation from 9:30-11 a.m., all at the Calvary Baptist Church in Rhinelander with Rev. Rod Ankrom officiating. (Carlson Funeral Home)
