Obituary: Donald Anklam

Donald “Don” Anklam, age 93, a life-long resident of Rhinelander, died Sunday, May 12 at Heartwood Senior Living, in Appleton, surrounded by family. Don was born in Nov. 12, 1925 in Rhinelander to Ronald and Esther Anklam. After high school graduation, Don enlisted in the Army, serving two years in the European and Pacific theaters during WWII.
Don is survived by three children, Tom and Lisa (Gotchy) of San Francisco, Jim and Jane (Hansen) of Superior and Mary and John Toppins of Greenville; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen; daughter, Judi Anklam Devereux; and sister, Dolores Anklam.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 30, at Nativity of Our Lord Church in Rhinelander, with Father Mike Tupa officiating. Visitation will take place at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday. Inurnment will be in the Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Don’s name and contributions may be directed to his family. (Carlson Funeral Home)
