The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is continuing its investigation into the deaths of two town of Pine River residents, but stated the deaths are believed to be due to homicide-suicide.

Barbara Renken, 77, was found deceased in her home Feb. 14 after officers went to the residence for a welfare check. Her husband, John Renken, 78, was found injured from a gunshot wound, was hospitalized and died March 7.

According to a press release, the sheriff has found “no evidence to disprove” their theory and continue to believe this was an isolated incident.
