Nicolet College BPA students advance to national competition

The long-standing tradition of Nicolet College Business Professionals of America students qualifying for the national BPA competition continued in 2019 with two students headed to the National Leadership Conference in May.
Leslie Hogue of Boulder Junction and Christine Wilberding of Rhinelander both earned top honors at the recent Wisconsin BPA state competition, securing invitations to compete at nationals in May in Anaheim, Calif.
“Both students worked hard and are very deserving of their accomplishments,” said Tracey MacQuarrie, BPA advisor and Administrative Professional/Office Technology instructor at Nicolet. “Leslie and Christine are very talented individuals and I’m sure they’ll represent Nicolet well at the national competition.”
Hogue will compete in three disciplines: Digital Publishing, Graphic Design Promotion, and Fundamentals of Web Design.
Wilberding will compete in Advanced Word Processing and Advanced Office Systems and Procedures.
Business Professionals of America is a national organization for middle school, high school, and college students preparing for careers in business and information technology. The organization’s activities and programs complement classroom instruction by giving students practical experience through application of the skills learned at school.
More than 5,000 students, advisors and guests from throughout the United States are expected to participate in the 46th National Leadership Conference.
Activities will include general sessions with keynote speakers, business meetings, leadership workshops, contests, election of national officers, and a fundraising walk for Special Olympics.
