Star Journal Report
The Rhinelander girls basketball team won its last game of the season Friday night at home, defeating Mosinee in the regional semifinal. The Hodags then took to the road Saturday, traveling to New London for the regional final, but couldn’t muster enough defense or scoring, losing to the Bulldogs 53-22.
Friday night, however, Mosinee started the game with a short-lived lead that was quickly reversed as they were not able to handle Rhinelander’s full court pressure and points off turnover led to a Hodag 41-27 half-time lead. The Hodags had defeated Mosinee twice during the regular season and were trying to make it three..
The second half was more of the same as the home team put up another 41 points in the half and Mosinee scored 30 for a final of 82-57. High scorer for the girls again was Kenedy VanZile with 26 points, followed by Rebecca Lawrence with 22 as she scored four three’s in the first half. PHOTOS BY BOB MAINHARDT.
