Obituary: Marie Barfknecht
Marie Elizabeth (Sawyer) Barfknecht, age 92 of Rhinelander, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019, at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah.
Marie was born Sept. 24, 1926, in Rhinelander to Bert and Bertha Sawyer.
She is survived by her brothers, Fr. Michael Sawyer O.S.B. and Robert Sawyer; children, Fr. David Barfknecht O.S.B., Jane (Stephen) Buch, Dan (Ann) Barfknecht, Judy (Tim) Kuehn, Mary (Mike) Mangerson, Dona (John) Potters and Paula (Dave) Schneider; 20 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Don; and her sister, Dottie Ann (Sawyer) Secord.
A visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 20 at the Hildebrand Funeral Home from 4-7 p.m., followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon Monday, Jan. 21 at Nativity of Our Lord church, with visitation at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the mass.
