Five agencies receive year-end community foundation grants
Star Journal Report
The Rhinelander Community Foundation (RCF) dispersed its final year-end grants. Five local organizations received grants ranging from $2,800 to $5,600, for a total of $16,800. The grants were donor-designated, with partial matching from the RCF board of directors.
Grant recipients were Rhinelander Area Food Pantry, in part restricted for the backpack program; Northern Alliance for Temporary Housing, Tri County Council for Domestic Abuse, Northwoods United Way and the School District of Rhinelander, restricted for the Rhinelander High School Fab Lab, each receiving grants ranging from $2800 to $5600.
The mission of RCF is to facilitate charitable giving enhancing quality of living in the Rhinelander area.
The RCF Founders’ Circle will be coming to a close at the end of 2018. Since establishing the Founders’ Circle in 2016, RCF has raised over $500,000 and has been able to grant over $100,000 to 13 local organizations, while placing over $100,000 in lasting endowment. Endowments are invested funds, in which the initial gift remains intact while grants are made available forever through earnings. RCF will begin its granting process through its unrestricted permanent endowed fund in 2019 using a grant application process.
