The Rhinelander Police Department is participating in the annual Shop with a Cop program and is seeking donations to make the event a success. The police, along with the Rhinelander Fire Department, are working with Rhinelander schools to select a group of hard-working less fortunate third grade students to take part in the program Saturday, Dec. 15.

Students will be paired up with an officer or firefighter, eat breakfast as a group at an area restaurant, then shop for Christmas presents at Walmart and return to the station to wrap the gifts.

Anyone wishing to contribute to the event may send donations to the Rhinelander Police Department, C/O Sgt. Kurt Helke, 201 N. Brown St., Rhinelander, by Dec. 10. Checks can be made payable to Rhinelander Professional Police Association. For more information, call 715-365-5300.
