Five Rhinelander Swim Club members took first place at the club's recent meet in Ladysmith. Pictured from left, Zacha King, Charlie Antonuk, Dean Gillingham and Jack Antonuk. Not pictured is Vivi Lamers.

At only the second meet of the season, five Rhinelander Swim Club members were high point winners.

“The team had great swims, multiple time drops, and we walked away with five age-group high point awards,” said head coach Megan Cihla.  “It really captures the depth and versatility our team has this year.”

Cihla noted that historically, the club has had fewer boys than girls, but this year, one of the team strengths is number and quality of male swimmers, including Dean Gillingham, Charlie Antonuk, Zacha King, and Jack Antonuk. Vivan Lamers was the fifth high-point winner for the club.

Gillingham, 8,  dropped 18 seconds off his 25-yard breaststroke and also placed first in the 25-yard backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly and freestyle as well as the 100-yard individual medley (IM). Lamers, 10, placed first in the 25-yard breaststroke, 25-yard butterfly and 25-yard freestyle. Charlie Antonuk, 9,  placed first in the 25-yard butterfly and 100-yard individual medley. Zacha King placed first in the 25-yard backstroke, 25-yard butterfly and the 100-yard IM. Jack Antonuk, 14, placed first in the 50-yard breaststroke, 50-yard freestyle, 50-yard butterfly and the 100-yard IM.
