Weyerhauser man pleads guilty to arson, sentenced to prison
STAR JOURNAL REPORT
A Rusk County man was sentenced to prison for setting on fire a house he was renting in Woodruff last spring. Clark C.L. Krueger, 38 of Weyerhauser, pleaded no contest to arson in Oneida County Circuit Court last week, and will spend eight years behind bars and an additional seven years in extended supervision for setting the fire March 22.
According to the criminal complaint a Woodruff police officer was dispatched to the structure fire on Mid Lake Road at 1:33 a.m. When the officer arrived, the home was fully engulfed. That same officer noted he had previous contact with Krueger at that residence, when Krueger was loading his belongings into a truck and trailer.
During the fire investigation, a relative of Krueger’s wife told police that Krueger was bragging about starting the fire and told numerous people. Krueger’s wife told officers that her husband admitted to starting the fire. Krueger was arrested May 16 and had been in Oneida County custody since then.
