Sharon Marlene Gerdes, age 70 of Rhinelander, died on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018, at the St. Claire’s Hospital in Weston. She was born Oct. 7, 1947, in Rhinelander to Lawrence and Ruby (Miller) Sachse. She attended schools in Rhinelander, graduating from Rhinelander High School in 1965.

Sharon was a lifelong resident of Rhinelander. After graduation, Sharon married her high school sweetheart, Ronald Gerdes, on April 17, 1966, in Rhinelander; God blessed them with two children and 52 years of marriage. She had been employed as a typesetter for the Daily News and the Hodag Shopper/Our Town.
In her spare time Sharon enjoyed crocheting, needlework, her flowers, and fishing with her husband. She was a longtime member of the St. Mark Lutheran Church. Sharon will be remembered for the ever-present sincere smile on her face.

Sharon is survived by her husband, Ronald; her daughter, Janice Kay (Marsh) Beall; her son, Allen (Dawn) Gerdes; grandchildren, Ryan, Tyler and Tessa; her great-granddaughter, Eve Grace; two sisters, Sandy (Marty) Aubol and Kathy (Phillip) Owens; brother, Alvin Sachse; nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service for Sharon will be held Monday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m., with visitation from 9 to 11 a.m., all at the St. Mark Lutheran Church. Rev. Richard Miller will officiate. (Carlson Funeral Home)
