Former Village of Weston administrator Daniel Guild will begin work Monday as Rhinelander’s city administrator.

Following a lengthy closed session Monday, Mayor Chris Frederickson announced the decision.

“I look forward to working with Daniel Guild,” Frederickson said. “That being the case, as a single vote, I may vote otherwise.”

Guild voluntarily resigned from the position in Weston in July. Guild was one of 39 candidates for the position in Rhinelander and was among the final three.

The vote to approve Guild’s contract was 6-1 with council members Steve Sauer  and Andrew Larson abstaining. Mayor Chris Frederickson filed the lone ‘no’ vote.

Frederickson says Guild is excited to be coming to Rhinelander.

“He’s excited to start working. He knows we’re in a budget process and there’s a lot of issue to start working on. He’s excited to start working.”

The negotiations with Guild were handled by the firm GOVHR, who Fredrickson said handled most of the direct negotiations. Fredrickson says Guild accepted the contract.

The contract will pay Guild $95,000 along with detailed requirements to be met. Guild will meet with the public on Tuesday, September 18.

Former administrator Keith Kost resigned in April.
