Peoples Bank awards donations
STAR JOURNAL REPORT
The Rhinelander Police Department, Rhinelander Fire Department and Oneida County Sheriff’s Office Thursday were awarded donations raised Aug. 10 at Peoples State Bank on Lincoln Street.
The bank held its annual appreciation fundraiser lunch and community members had the opportunity to see the departments’ various vehicles and talk with law enforcement officers and firefighters.
The fundraiser netted each agency over $500.
Fire chief Terry Williams said the funds will go toward additional specialized firefighter rescue equipment that will work with the new air packs the department recently received.
The Oneida County Dive Team is likely the beneficiary of the Sheriff’s office donation, according to Oneida County Sheriff Grady Hartman.
Police Chief Lloyd Gauthier indicated the K9 program and Drug Abuse Resistance Education Program (DARE) will split his department’s share.
