The Rhinelander school board Operations Committee Monday forwarded a resolution to the full board to add lighting on the quarter-mile service road that runs between Rhinelander High School and James Williams Middle School.
The road is used by students, parents and community members during the day and in the evenings for access to activities and at Mike Webster Stadium.
A proposal from Wisconsin Public Service would add three fiberglass poles and three wood poles, along with electric service and electric system at a cost of $48,568.52. This would also include electrical service to the new concession, team room and restroom facility under construction, and expected to be completed by the end of the 2018-19 school year.
The monthly electric bill for this additional lighting is estimated at $156. The committee recommended approval of the lighting project at a cost not to exceed the proposed amount, which would be funded through the maintenance department budget.
