Free entrepreneurship workshop
Anyone looking to start a business or take a current enterprise to the next level is invited to attend Nicolet College’s free Exploring Entrepreneurship workshop Aug. 21 in Eagle River. The event will take place 6-7:30 p.m., at the Vilas County Incubator located in the Hwy. 70 Business Park. The workshop will be followed this fall with a seven-week course which will delve deeper into the subject matter and offer guidance from experts in a variety of fields. Golden Harvest anniversary celebration
Golden Harvest Market is hosting a 20th anniversary event Aug. 25. Speakers from the community, including Advanced Health and the Department of Natural Resources, a traveling petting zoo, “tiny house” tours and a raffle will be part of the celebration. Golden Harvest opened in August 1998 on South Oneida Avenue in the building that is now Bessey’s Meat Market. Since then, the natural and organic health foods store has moved to Coon Street, and added a bakery and greenhouses, moved into a brand new 17,000 square foot location, added a deli and expanded into Merrill. Golden Harvest is located at 3215 Co. Road G in Rhinelander.
Public comment requested for AIS management plan
The DNR and other aquatic invasive species partners recently revised the aquatic invasive species management plan for Wisconsin. Before it is finalized, the group is seeking input from the public regarding what is important for aquatic invasive species management in Wisconsin. To review the plan and submit comments, visit https://goo.gl/ghouzi and look for “Lakes and Rivers.” Oneida County conservationist Michele Sadauskas was the county representative for the plan.
Sustainable farm tour
The Antigo/Langlade County Chamber of Commerce and several local farms are hosting a Sustainable Farm Tour Saturday, Aug. 25. Attendees may tour three of six sustainable farms in Langlade County. Tours start at 9 a.m., 11 a.m., and 2 p.m. The tour locations include Bures Family Organic Dairy Farm, McDougal’s Farm, Canopy Gardens, Igl Farms, Grandview Orchard and Nursery Stock and Tapped Maple Syrup. WILD Hodag competition Aug. 25
Registration is open for the sixth annual WILD Hodag Mini Triathlon, which takes place Aug. 25 at Holiday Acres Resort beginning at 8 a.m. The event includes a 300-yard swim or half-mile kayak, 10k off-road bike course and 5k run. Individuals or relay teams may compete. Proceeds benefit Wise Intentional Leadership Development to further youth leadership skills internationally and locally. Lakeland Republican women meet
The Lakeland Area Republican Women’s Club luncheon Aug. 15 at Minocqua Country Club will feature speaker Taylor Pitlik, a recent graduate with a degree in mining. She will explain the mining process.
