Family Fishing Fun Day

STAR JOURNAL
In partnership with area organizations and businesses, Oneida County 4-H is once again sponsoring the annual Family Fishing Fun Day event June 2 from 9 a.m to noon at Hodag Park in Rhinelander. There is no charge for participation, and all ages welcome.

The event features pontoon boat rides courtesy of “Let’s Go Fishing,” casting instruction, demonstrations from the Pine Lake Fire Department, Shoeder’s Marine, the DNR and more.

Educational stations, including knot tying, fish identification, fish cleaning, and others, provide an opportunity for youth and adults to gain the information they need to begin the sport and hobby of fishing. Since this event corresponds with the free fishing weekend sponsored by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, everyone, young and old, can fish off the pier.

Because of donations and special sponsorships from Remington BP and the United Steel Workers Union, the first 150 youth will receive fishing-related prizes, and adults will be able to put their name in a drawing for area business prizes.

All youth participants will receive free dairy products from the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board, a hot dog from the Northwoods Lions Club and a frozen treat from Fundah’s Ice Cream truck.

For more information, contact UW-Extension at 715-365-2750.
