Though Nativity of Our Lord Parish has received an offer to purchase the St. Joe's property, School District of Rhinelander is not necessarily out of luck.

Discussion to focus on process for potential property purchase

STAR JOURNAL REPORT

A special meeting of the School District of Rhinelander Board of Education will be held at 6 p.m., Monday, March 12 at the Superior Diesel Advanced Learning Center (the tiered classroom) at Rhinelander High School.

The only action/discussion item on the agenda is to “consider a process for the possible purchase of the Nativity of Our Lord North/St. Joseph’s church and school property.”

Last month members of the board’s Capital Projects Ad Hoc Committee met to consider space needs of the district.

Last fall, when the board was made aware of additional state funding, Jacobi suggested using some of the fund balance to address space needs at Crescent Elementary, by building two additional classrooms at an estimated cost of $1.2 million. The administration was notified the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church/School property would be sold. The asking price is $649,000.

After the February  capital projects meeting, the committee directed Superintendent Kelli Jacobi to investigate costs involved in the potential real estate transaction.

The meeting agenda can be seen here.
