Obituary: DuWayne R. Wallner

DuWayne R. “Wally” Wallner, age 83 of Green Bay and formerly of Rhinelander, died March 10, 2018, at Ascension St. Mary’s Hospital. DuWayne was born March 5, 1935 in Edgar to Henry J. and Theresa (Novitzke) Wallner. He enlisted in the Marines, serving 1953-56, during the Korean War and attained the rank of Sergeant.

He is survived by his wife, Linda; three children, Linda (Thomas) Olcikas of Rhinelander, Steven Wallner of Texas, Michael (Heidi) Wallner of Australia; one stepdaughter, Michelle (Scott) Wolfe of Green Bay; five grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

DuWayne was preceded in death by his first wife, and an infant brother, Norman Wallner. The visitation for Wally will be held Wednesday, March 14 at the Hildebrand Funeral Home, from 11a.m. until the 1 p.m. service. Pastor Keith Wolf will be officiating.

A luncheon will immediately follow in the banquet room of the funeral home. Following the luncheon, all are invited to proceed to the Newbold Cemetery for the committal services. At the conclusion of the committal services, Wally will be honored with full military honors conducted by the Ray Rousseau V.F.W. post #3143 and two representatives from the United States Marines.

Memorial contributions in memory of Wally may be given to The Highground Veterans Memorial Park, W7031 Ridge Road, Neillsville, Wisconsin, 54456. (Hildebrand Funeral Home)
