Rhinelander Photography Club’s gallery show at Nicolet College

Area photographers are sharing their work with the community, now through March 24, at the Nicolet College Art Gallery. Members of the Rhinelander Photography Club and gallery director Katy Ralph have been working for about a year to bring the display together. The exhibit includes landscapes, wildlife, waterfalls, candid shots, portraits and night photography.

“I’m looking forward to having a gallery filled with images I have never seen on our walls before,” said Ralph.

Club vice president Benjamin Tatrow said the framed art is a “true representation” of all the facets of photography today.

“We have cell phone pictures, we have film pictures, digital pictures, digital compositions,” Tatrow said. “All represented here. It’s all part of the club, which is all local.”

The club, which began as a social media group is now a chartered organization with membership dues.

“It’s a ground-up organization,” Tatrow explained. “We had to decide, what do we stand for, who are we, what do we want to do? So we came up with ‘Community, Education and Fun,’ as pillars of our organization.”

The club’s facebook page and website are available for public viewing. Members can show their own portfolios on the website. It’s also where the club posts photos from special events, such as the Lights of the Northwoods preview that took place at Hodag Park in December. Visit www.rpcwi.com for details.

The Rhinelander Photography Club exhibit will be on display until March 24 with a closing reception taking place that day from 2-4 p.m. The gallery is located in the Northwoods Center and is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call 715-365-4556.
