STAR JOURNAL REPORT

The Rhinelander High School boys basketball team has this season’s Great Northern Conference title all to itself and is one win away from a perfect league record.

The Hodags remained undefeated in conference play Friday with a 56-36 league victory at Antigo.

RHS, which led 35-13 at halftime, had two players end up scoring in double figures led by Owen White with 19 points and Brad Comer adding 17 points, which included five 3-pointers.

The Hodags shot 20-44 (45.5 percent) from the field overall, 7-19 (36.8 percent) from 3-point range and 9-18 (50 percent) from the free-throw line.

RHS, which is 11-0 in the GNC and is 19-2 overall, closes out the regular season by hosting a conference game Thursday against Mosinee. The Hodags will open WIAA Division 2 tournament play as the top seed in their regional March 2 when they host the semifinal against the winner of the Feb. 27 regional quarterfinal between No. 8-seeded Shawano and No. 9-seeded Medford.
