RHS to host No. 10-seeded Mosinee

STAR JOURNAL REPORT

The Rhinelander High School boys hockey team has received the No. 7 seed in its sectional and will open WIAA tournament play Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. when the Hodags host No. 10-seeded Mosinee.

The Hodags, who have defeated the Indians in the first game between the two teams this season, are also scheduled to play Mosinee in Friday’s regular-season finale at the Rhinelander Ice Arena. The tournament winner will advance to play No. 2-seeded Northland Pines in Eagle River on Feb. 15 at 7 p.m.

The other three teams in RHS’s half of the sectional include No. 6-seeded Lakeland Union High School and No. 11-seeded Merrill/Wausau East, who face each other to open the tournament with that winner to play against No. 3-seeded Stevens Point.

Top-seeded Wausau West is in the other half of the sectional along with No. 4-seeded D.C. Everest, No. 5-seeded Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln, No. 8-seeded Tomahawk and the No. 9-seeded Pacelli co-op.

The sectional semifinals are set for Feb. 20 with the championship game to be played Feb. 24 at 4 p.m. at the Greenheck Field House in Weston.
