BOYS SWIMMING: Hodags drop dual to LUHS, 101-67

The Rhinelander High School boys swimming team placed first in only two of the 11 events Thursday when the Hodags lost their Great Northern Conference home dual meet to Lakeland Union High School, 101-67.
RHS’s 200-yard medley relay comprised of Russell Benoy, David King, Joseph Heck and Thaddeus Heck won in 1 minute, 49.47 seconds. Benoy added a first-place finish in the 100 backstroke (1:03.88).
The Hodags’ two runner-up relays included: Benoy, Martin Hoger, Devon Gaber and Joseph Heck, 200 freestyle relay (1:38.02); and Hoger, King, Thaddeus Heck and Mathew Herman, 400 freestyle relay (4:01.68).
RHS also had five second-place individual finishes that included: Thaddeus Heck, 200 freestyle (2:07.37) and 100 breaststroke (1:07.57); Joseph Heck, 200 individual medley (2:19.52); Benoy, 50 freestyle (23.66); and King, 100 backstroke (1:04.67).
The Hodags, who closed out their GNC dual meet schedule with a record of 3-6-1, next compete Feb. 2 in the conference meet at LUHS.
