STAR JOURNAL REPORT

Two officer vacancies on the Rhinelander Police Department are being filled by Vilas County sheriff’s deputies who are also brothers.

Rhinelander‘s Police and Fire Commission decided Monday to hire Tyler and Logan Pontbriand, said police department administrative assistant Ashlea Olson.

Olson said the two officers are slated to begin working for the RPD in February, following the successful completion of background checks, and will bring the police department back to full staffing with 17 full-time officers, which include the police chief and captain.
