HIGH SCHOOL GYMNASTICS: Hodags top Thunderbirds

STAR JOURNAL REPORT

The Rhinelander High School gymnastics team won Tuesday in its first Great Northern Conference dual meet of the new year at Lakeland Union High School, 119.25-109.925.

The Hodags placed first in three of the four individual events with Raven Sturtevant winning the both the floor exercise (8.175) and uneven bars (7.65) and Alyssa Mitchell topping the balance beam (7.65).

RHS also occupied all four runner-up spots with Stephanie Kuester placing second in vaulting (8.3), uneven bars (7.5) and floor exercise (7.95) and Sturtevant adding a second-place finish on the balance beam (7.575).

Three of the four third-place individual finishes went to the Hodags with Sturtevant in vaulting (8.05), Kuester on the balance beam (7.35) and Bridget Koser in the floor exercise (7.85).

Sturtevant ended up first in the all-around competition (31.45) with Kuester second (31.1) and LUHS’s Kaitlin Hayes third (28.55).

Up next for RHS is an invitational Saturday at Wisconsin Rapids.
