EDITOR,
The Rhinelander Lions Club congratulates the Lights of the Northwoods for the extremely successful preview of the light displays in Hodag Park. The Lions also extend a huge thank you to the Rhinelander area community and the greater Northwoods area for coming to support and view the lights.

Special thanks to the city for the use of the park and to the residents of the Hodag Park and Thayer Street area who endured the heavy traffic over the course of the four-day event. Thank you to the volunteers that showed up on the cold weekend of Dec. 9 and 10, who put a lot of effort into hanging the lights and displays, and for the wonderful assistance of the Wisconsin Public Service bucket truck operators.

It was extremely heartwarming to see the generous amount of food that was collected for the food pantry during the event. The Lions will continue to support the Lights of the Northwoods and we encourage other civic organizations, businesses, families and individuals to join the organization’s efforts to increase the number of displays and lights and make this truly a community event.
The efforts of a small group made a tremendous impact on this community; just think what a larger group could do.

You can contact the Lights group at www.lightsofthenorthwoods.com to volunteer to help, or to donate or request an area to decorate. We look forward to next year’s event.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
The Rhinelander Lions
