STAR JOURNAL REPORT

The Rhinelander High School gymnastics team didn’t have all of its top athletes compete Tuesday when the Hodags narrowly won a non-conference dual meet at Lakeland Area High School, 107.65-106.55.

RHS gymnasts placed first in three of the four individual events with senior Alyssa Mitchell on the balance beam (7.75), junior Harlie Zimmermann on the uneven bars (6.475) and freshman Lilli Bishop in the floor exercise (7.475).

Bishop added a runner-up finish in vaulting (7.75), while another Hodag freshman, Autumn Shafer, placed third in vaulting (7.7) and also ended up third in the all-around competition (26.425).

RHS’s next meet will be Jan. 2 at LUHS.

The Hodags’ Alyssa Mitchell performs on the balance beam and scores a personal best to place first in Tuesday’s non-conference dual meet at Lakeland Union High School.
