HIGH SCHOOL WRESTLING: Hodags win GNC dual opener over Tomahawk

The Rhinelander High School wrestling team competed on the road in its first Great Northern Conference dual meet of the season Thursday when the Hodags won seven of the 11 contested matches on pins en route to defeating Tomahawk, 48-31.
RHS’s wrestlers who pinned their opponents included Colton Krueger (285), Reuben Guzik (120), Tyler Olson (126), Jacob DeMeyer (160), Kyle Kuester (170), Hunter Greyhair (195) and Alec Kurtz (220).
The Hatchets won two matches on pins recorded by Austin Snow (113) and Matt Turkiewicz (145).
Tomahawk also won the two matches that went the distance with Wyatt Wenninger winning a 9-0 major decision over Eric Grulke at 152 pounds and Tony Matti winning a 2-0 decision over Scott Fox at 182 pounds.
Of the three forfeited matches, the Hatchets won two of them with Alex Bishop and Isaiah Scheffler at 132 and 138 pounds, respectively, and the Hodags winning the one with Tim Fox at 106 pounds.
Up next for RHS is Saturday’s Marty Loy Classic in Fond du Lac.
