BOYS SWIMMING: Hodags top Shawano, 86-77

STAR JOURNAL REPORT

The Rhinelander High School boys swimming team placed first in 10 of the 11 events and added three runner-up finishes Tuesday when the Hodags won their Great Northern Conference home dual meet against Shawano, 86-77.

RHS won two of the three relays with first-place finishes from: freshman Joseph Heck and sophomores Thaddeus Heck, David King and Devon Gaber in the 200-yard medley relay (1 minute, 52.41 seconds); and Gaber, Thaddeus Heck and juniors Martin Hoger and Russell Benoy in the 200 freestyle relay (1:38.38).

The Hodags’ individual winners included: Hoger, 200 freestyle (2:05.97) and 100 backstroke (1:04.95); King, 200 individual medley (2:19.56) and 100 butterfly (59.9); Benoy, 50 freestyle (23.94) and 100 freestyle (53.28); Joseph Heck, 500 freestyle (5:50.82); and Thaddeus Heck, 100 breaststroke (1:08.1).

RHS recorded runner-up finishes from: Joseph Heck, King, Hoger and Benoy in the 400 freestyle relay (3:49.03); Joseph Heck in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.16); and Thaddeus Heck in the 200 freestyle (2:06.62).

The Hodags’ GNC dual meet record now stands at 2-2 going into Thursday’s conference dual meet at Lakeland Union High School.
