GIRLS BASKETBALL: Hodags fall to Thunderbirds, 71-55

RHS’s 4-game winning streak snapped

STAR JOURNAL REPORT

The Rhinelander High School varsity girls basketball team fell behind by 10 points at halftime and ended up losing at home Friday in Great Northern Conference action to Lakeland Union High School, 71-55.

The Hodags had three players scorE in double figures and account for all but eight of the team’s points. Kenedy Van Zile had a team-high 18 points and 12 rebounds for a double-double. Ally Seefeldt added 16 points with Brooke Mork scoring 13 more.

The Thunderbirds also had three players score in double figures led by Melissa Bruckner with a game-high 24 points. Olivia Killian added a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Abigail Parris scored another 13 points. All three players each made three 3-pointers.

LUHS outshot RHS from the field overall, 29-27 (50.8 percent) to 23-67 (34.3 percent).

After seeing their four-game winning streak snapped, the Hodags’ season record stands at 4-2 overall and 1-1 in the GNC going into Friday’s game at Northland Pines.
