GIRLS BASKETBALL: Hodags down Wausau East, Cadott

RHS improves to 2-1 overall

STAR JOURNAL REPORT

The Rhinelander High School varsity girls basketball team recorded a pair of victories last weekend at the Tom Kislow Classic hosted by Wausau East.

The Hodags opened tournament play Friday with a 68-52 victory over Wausau East.

RHS, which led 37-26 at halftime, had two players end up scoring in double figures. Ally Seefeldt tallied a game-high 26 points with Kenedy Van Zile adding 21 points.

Though both teams shot fairly even from the field overall with RHS making 21 of 59 (35 percent) and Wausau East going 19 of 59 (33 percent) along with each team tallying three 3-point baskets, the game was decided at the charity stripe with the Hodags shooting 23-37 (62 percent), compared to 11-22 (50 percent) for Wausau East.

HODAGS 68, CADOTT 46

RHS jumped out to a 22-point lead at halftime Saturday when the Hodags closed out the tournament with a 68-46 victory over Cadott.

Three players ended up scoring in double figures for RHS led by Seefeldt with 19 points. Brooke Mork added 17 points with Van Zile scoring 12 more.

The Hodags outshot Cadott from the field overall, 30-65 (46 percent) to 14-57 (24 percent).

RHS improved its overall season record to 2-1 going into next Friday’s game at Mosinee.
