Oneida County Board supervisors would be in line to receive $5 more per meeting when they begin new terms next April, if a motion backed Wednesday by the county’s Administration Committee is included as part of the 2018 budget.
County Board chairman Dave Hintz noted committee members favored increasing the per diem for supervisors so the rate would go from $70 to $75 for attending the monthly County Board meeting and from $40 to $45 for a committee meeting.
In addition, Hintz said the committee also favored increasing the annual salary of the County Board chairman by $2,000 to $5,600.
At the committee’s Sept. 11 meeting, members reviewed a listing of per diem rates for counties throughout the state that noted, for instance, the Vilas County Board chairman receives an annual salary of $5,600 plus per diem, while the per diem rates in Vilas County are $47 for both the County Board and committee meetings.
Hintz said the recommendation for the Oneida County Board per diem and chairman salary will be considered next month as part of the committee’s budget hearings and then could be forwarded to the full County Board for final approval at its November meeting.
