Northwoods Choraliers host informational meeting

The Northwoods Choraliers, the women’s community choir former known as the Nicolet Choraliers, is hosting an information meeting and first rehearsal Sept. 12 at 6:30 p.m. at First Congregational Church in Rhinelander.

The new season runs Sept. through May. Any woman age 18 or older interested in being part of the group is invited to attend. Singers come from a variety of musical backgrounds and music-reading ability is not a requirement.

White Cane Day

Rhinelander Lions Club will hold White Cane Day Sept. 22 – 23 at Trig’s, Shopko and Walmart. All funds collected will promote vision screenings, Wisconsin Lions Camp, Wisconsin Eye Bank and leader dogs for the blind.

International Lions Clubs have aided the blind and visually impaired since 1929. The Rhinelander Lions Club meets first and third Wednesdays at 6 p.m. at the Steakhouse Restaurant on Stevens Street. For more information, email [email protected]

 

Air Force Combat Operations Challenge

The YMCA of the Northwoods is hosting a physical skills challenge that is based off the U.S. Air Force Special Operations Physical Ability Stamina Test. The event, which consists of three different divisions, takes place Sept. 24 at the Y.

Participants will choose one the following: Combat Control Team (CCT), Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape (SERE) and Tactical Air Control Party (TACP).

Each event features swimming, running and physical fitness challenges, and finishes with a rucksack march in which competitors fill a rucksack with 25 pounds of non-perishable food items to be donated to the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry.
