GIRLS SWIMMING: Hodags win GNC dual opener over LUHS

The Rhinelander High School girls swimming team hosted its first Great Northern Conference dual meet of the season Thursday when the Hodags placed first in 10 of the 11 events, added five runner-up finishes and came in third in six events en route to defeating Lakeland Union High School, 107-63.
RHS’s individual event winners included: freshman Makenna Winnicki, 200-yard individual medley (2 minutes, 26.59 seconds) and 500 freestyle (5:35.5); sophomore Marisa McGuire, 200 freestyle (2:14.5); junior Grace Heck, 50 freestyle (27.36); senior Taylor Macak, 100 butterfly (1:10.41); freshman Lisa Kennedy, 100 backstroke (1:06.22); and senior Jenna Hawley, 100 breaststroke (1:19.9).
The Hodags won all three relays with Kennedy, Hawley, Macak and freshman Marissa Martin in the 200 medley relay (2:01.93); Heck, Hawley, McGuire and Winnicki in the 200 freestyle relay (1:48.62); and McGuire, Heck, Kennedy and Winnicki in the 400 freestyle relay (4:06.81).
RHS’s next meet is Sept. 7 at Medford.
