Beverly M. Gechas, age 91 of Rhinelander, died Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at St. Clare’s Hospital in Weston. She was born Feb. 21, 1926 in Rhinelander to Chester and Agnes (Krummel) Maine. Beverly attended schools in Rhinelander and graduated from Rhinelander High School.

She married Anthony Gechas Nov. 7, 1942; he preceded her in death on Dec. 23, 1997.

Beverly had been employed for 30 years as a Nursing Assistant at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was a member of Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church. Beverly was a past member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary and St. Joseph Catholic Church Women’s Club. Upon retirement, her greatest joy was family celebrations. Beverly was known as a very good cook and prepared many meals for the whole family. She also enjoyed her many flower gardens which were found all around her yard. She learned many crafts and made many items for everyone.

Beverly will be dearly missed by her children, Joseph (Marjorie) Gechas of Rhinelander, Fern (Jim) Castrale of Ocala, Fla., and Tim (Carla) Gechas of Juneau; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her brother, William Holzschuh (Gloria Biesik) of Tomahawk; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Visitation for Beverly will be held Wednesday, June 21 at Nativity of Our Lord Catholic Church (St. Joseph site) from 10:30 a.m. until the 11:30 a.m. mass of Christian burial. Fr. Randy Knauf will be officiating. Interment will take place at Forest Home Cemetery.
