Obituary: Daniel R. DeHorn
Daniel “Dan” R. DeHorn, age 60 of Milwaukee and a former resident of Rhinelander, died Monday, April 3, 2017 at home. He was born Oct. 10, 1956 in Colorado to Dexter and Janice (Russ) DeHorn. While growing up the family had lived in Spokane, Wash., Milwaukee and eventually moved to Rhinelander where Dan graduated in 1974 from Rhinelander High School. He then was employed at the Rhinelander Café and Pub.
He enlisted in the Marine Corps and servced his country. Dan then moved back to Rhinelander and was employed at Charlie’s South 17. He moved to Milwaukee where he had been employed with IKON Office Solutions as an IT/Color Copy Specialist. In his earlier years he enjoyed hunting but most recently enjoyed fishing, building computers, working on his car, watching movies, spending time with his friends at Lake George and cats. He loved the Northwoods and couldn’t wait to move back to northern Wisconsin.
He will be dearly missed by his mother, Jan DeHorn and by two brothers and one sister, Steve (June) DeHorn of Pembroke, N.H., Tammy DeHorn-Clauson of South St. Paul, Minn. and Mike (Joan) DeHorn of Rhinelander. Also surviving are one niece, two nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Dexter DeHorn in 2006 and by his maternal and paternal grandparents. A celebration of life for Dan will take place Saturday, April 15 at the Hildebrand Funeral Home from 3 p.m. until the 5p.m. military honors, conducted by the Ray Rousseau V.F.W. Post #3143 Rhinelander and by two representatives from the Marine Corps. Private inurnment will take place at Forest Home Cemetery. A memorial has been established in Dan’s name and may be directed to the family. (Hildebrand Funeral Home)
