Obituary: Kathleen F. Rushlow

Kathleen “Kathy” F. Rushlow, age 67 of Eagle River, died Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at Friendly Village in Rhinelander. She was born May 24, 1949 in Detroit, Mich. to Lawrence and Mary (Good) Sholz.
She was a 1968 graduate of St. Alphonus High School in Dearborn, Mich. After high school graduation, Kathy entered the nursing program at St. Joseph School of Nursing in Chicago where she graduated in 1970.
She was employed at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Chicago and later moved back to Dearborn where she continued in the health profession until 1979. She, along with her soon-to-be husband Dennis Rushlow, moved to Eagle River and purchased J.D.’S Trading Post on April 1, 1980. The couple changed the name to the Mud Creek Saloon operating it for 37 years.
Kathy and Dennis were united in marriage on April 14, 1981 in Toledo, Ohio. Kathy managed the kitchen for the Vilas County Jail and had served on the Vilas County Board of Supervisors for several years. She was also a member of SERVE with the Kalmar Senior Citizens. Kathy enjoyed reading, playing bingo, and fishing. She will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Dennis and by her brother, Lawrence (Linda) Sholz of Jackson, Mich.
