Young Rhinelander swimmers compete at state

The Rhinelander Swim Club was represented by four swimmers in the 12 and under age group at the recent state meet. Abi Winnicki, Sophia Miljevich, Zachariah King and Jack Antonuk all met qualifying times throughout the season to give them entrance to the meet which was held at the UW-Madison natatorium. Winnicki broke two 30-year-old club records in the 11-12 age group, garnering third-place finishes in the 100 individual medley and the 50 freestyle.
“I couldn’t be more proud of these athletes,” said Coach Megan Cihla. “Between all of the hard work they put in during the season to the wonderful accomplishments they had this weekend.”
RESULTS:
Jack Antonuk, age 12, 6th– 200yd. breaststroke; 10th–100 yd. individual medley; 10th –100 yd. butterfly; 11th –400 yd. individual medley; 15th– 500 yd. freestyle; 17th– 200 yd. Free; 9th–200 yd. medley relay.
Zachariah King, age 10, 27th–100 yd. backstroke; 32nd–50 yd. butterfly; 47th–50 yd. backstroke; 13th–200 yd. freestyle; 9th–200 yd. freestyle relay.
Sophia Miljevich, age 10, 41st–50 yd. breaststroke; 41st–100 yd breaststroke; 68th–100 yd. individual medley.
Abi Winnicki, age 10, 3rd–500 yd. freestyle; 3rd–100 yd. individual medley; 3rd–100 yd. individual medley; 4th–100 yd. freestyle; 4th –200 individual medley; 6th–200 yd. freestyle; 6th–200 yd. medley relay; 5th–200 yd. freestyle relay.
The top-eight finishers in individual events or the top three relays earned medals, with ribbons being awarded to the remaining finishers up to 16th place.
