GIRLS BASKETBALL: Hodags’ season ends in loss at Hortonville

RHS finishes 10-14 overall

STAR JOURNAL REPORT

The Rhinelander High School varsity girls basketball team’s season came to an end Thursday when the No. 8-seeded Hodags lost their WIAA Division 2 Regional game at top-seeded Hortonville, 75-54.

Kaly Kostrova led RHS with a game-high 33 points, which included five 3-point baskets. The Polar Bears had four players score in double figures led by Lexi Walter and Shay Frederick with 14 points apiece.

The Hodags shot 20-54 (37 percent) from the field overall and 7-23 (30 percent) from 3-point range, compared to Hortonville shooting 30-65 (46 percent) from the field and 6-15 (40 percent) behind the arc.

RHS ended the season 10-14 overall.

Hortonville          46           29 – 75

Rhinelander: Kaly Kostrova 33, Ali Schickert 5, Brooke Mork 5, Maddie Meyer 4, Ally Seefeldt 4, Kenedy Van Zile 3. 3-pointers: Kostrova 5, Mork, Meyer. Free throws; 7-13 Fouls: 11.
