STAR JOURNAL REPORT

Multiple problems were reported in Oneida County on Friday morning when motor vehicles tried to traverse the roadways covered with glare ice, said sheriff’s department captain Terri Hook.

In additon to vehicles sliding off the roads in various locations due to the slippery conditions caused by freezing rain, Hook said vehicle backups occurred on Highway 51 near County K and the Lake Katherine bridge. She noted semi trucks especially had difficulty traveling on Highway 51 because of the icy conditions.

“(Highway) 51 (Friday) morning was a mess,” Hook said.
