Obituary: Sarah (Sally) Inman O’Brien

Sarah (Sally) Inman O’Brien, age 87, passed away in Bryan, Texas Dec.13, 2016 from injuries sustained in an accident, which also claimed the life of her husband Daniel I. Padberg.

Sally was born March 24, 1926 in Norwood, Mass. to Minot F. Inman and Helen Louise (Prescott) Inman. She was raised in neighboring Foxborough, and attended Vesper George School of Fine Art in Boston. Shortly after finishing her studies she met and married Charles J. O’Brien who carried her off to a 37-year adventure in Latin America that included stays in El Salvador and Colombia, before settling in Panama City, Panama. Chuck and Sally retired in Palm Harbor, Florida in 1987.

Surviving her is her sister Joan True and her children Sharon O’Brien, Kenneth (Vicki) O’Brien, Melanie (Gary) O’Brien and Leslie (Sandy) Sanders along with grandchildren Chris and Stephanie Wolff, Dylan, Jacob and Marissa Johnson, Madeline, Matthew and Michael O’Brien and great-grandchildren Jackson, Dane, Myles, and a baby girl due in April. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles (Chuck) O’Brien, and granddaughter Caroline O’Brien.

It was at the UU Church of Tarpon Springs that she met her husband Dan. They were married in1998 remaining actively engaged in various capacities with the church Tarpon Springs and Northwoods Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Rhinelander, Wisc., where they migrated to each summer. They moved to San Marcos, Texas in June of 2014 and promptly became established with the UUs in New Braunfels.

Services for Sally will be held on Monday, Dec. 19 at 11 a.m. at the UU Church of New Braunfels, 125 Alves Ln. in New Braunfels.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice or UUNB for their Refugee Support Fund Raiser through the Interfaith Welcome Coalition (IWC), Checks can be made out to UUNB and mailed to Box 311414, New Braunfels, TX 78131-1414
