SQUIRT HOCKEY: RIA Squirts 2nd at New Richmond tourney

STAR JOURNAL REPORT

The Rhinelander Ice Arena Squirt hockey team placed second at the New Richmond Joe Swanda Memorial Squirt B Tournament held Dec. 10-11.

The Hodags opened the tournament Saturday morning with a 4-2 victory over the Northern Edge. They then won that evening over the Inver Grove Heights Spartans, 4-2, to advance to Sunday afternoon’s championship game, which they lost to the Des Moines Buccaneers, 7-0, and finished in second place.

The team is coached by Dave Denis and Kelsey Rea. Players include Charlotte Rea, Riley Squires, Levi Forster, Karter Massey, Jackson Fuss, Carsen Saari, Dylan Shefveland, Gavin Denis, Zach Edyvean, Nathan Cordy, Dalton Fritz, Anthony Hueckstaedt, Helena Wisner, Sutton Smith and goalie Johnny Turek.
