HIGH SCHOOL GYMNASTICS: Hodags 5th at Snowflake Invitational

The Rhinelander High School gymnastics team got a pair of top-10 individual finishes from junior Stephanie Kuester on Saturday when the Hodags placed fifth out of 10 teams in the Snowflake Invitational they hosted.

Kuester, who tied for seventh vaulting (8.450) and eighth on the uneven bars (7.475), ended up in 11th place in the all-around competition (30.775). She also placed 15th in the floor exercise with the team’s best score of 7.950.

On the balance beam, RHS’s top score came from sophomore Raven Sturtevant, who tied for 20th at 7.150. Sturtevant, who placed 16th in the all-around competition (29.000), recorded another top-20 finish by placing 19th in the floor exercise (7.850).

Another Hodag gymnast, junior Alyssa Mitchell, recorded the team’s only other top-20 finish by placing 18th in the all-around competition (27.775).

Ashland won the team title with a score of 134.1500, followed by Marshfield (129.7750), Antigo (126.1500), Medford (115.4000), RHS (114.5750), Superior 7 co-op (113.8750), Negaunee (110.1250), Lakeland (108.6500), Chequamegon (101.7250) and Mosinee (77.6750).

RHS’s next meet is Tuesday at Mosinee.
