OBITUARY: Florence E. Richard
Florence E. Richard, 71 of Fond du Lac, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016. She was born in Rhinelander Jan. 28, 1945, the seventh of nine children to Ernest and Emily (Drew) Duvall.
Growing up on the family farm, Florence was involved in 4-H early in her life. While her children were yet young, she was the leader of her girls’ Campfire group and involved in her son’s Boy Scout troop. She enjoyed sewing, crafting and gardening (lilacs being her favorite flower), as well as bingo, playing cards and building puzzles. Florence was a very social person. Her grandchildren loved her baking, especially her homemade banana bread. She wore many hats for her work, from cleaning resorts, working in a bakery, to working in a cannery and at McDonalds until her retirement. Florence volunteered for much of her life, notably for the VFW, the Fond du Lac Senior Center and in the kitchen at Portland Square Apartments. She was a Packer fan. Florence will always be remembered for her stubbornness and kind and loving heart.
Survivors include her two daughters, Ruth (Dave) Glendinning of Fond du Lac and Patty Jo Richard of Lake City, Fla.; six grandchildren, Krista Richard of Fond du Lac, Jorden and Jacob Glendinning of Fond du Lac, Kelly Bensing of Weyauwega, Scott Neil, Jr. and Scott Neil Bensing III of Milwaukee; two brothers, Willie Duvall of Kentucky and Fred (Sue) Duvall of Ohio; two sisters, Sylvia Robison of Weyauwega and Bernice Matz of Lakewood; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Roger Enos Richard; one brother, Herbert Duvall; and three sisters, Marilyn Rumppe, Lucy Fosterling and Joyce Duvall.
A time of gathering was held Saturday, Oct. 22 at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home, 524 N. Park Ave. in Fond du Lac. A private family burial has taken place in Elcho Cemetery, Elcho.
