STAR JOURNAL REPORT

As part of the Wisconsin Library Association’s (WLA) 125th anniversary, the Rhinelander District Library  (RDL) presented Rep. Rob Swearingen with a “Libraries Transform!” poster. RDL director, Virginia Roberts said Swearingen is a friend to libraries and sponsored two of the three pieces of legislation that positively impacted libraries in the last session.

““A lot of legislators never set foot in their libraries and some of it is because they are busy, but some of it is they just don’t understand what libraries do in the community,”” Roberts said. “”And he clearly does.”

””“We know that libraries serve a huge part of the community, whether it’s someone coming in for a book, or someone coming in looking for good reliable internet service, or somebody looking for a job, libraries are an integral part of the community,”” Swearingen said. ““And the Rhinelander district library plays that role to the max, they do a fantastic job here.””

The poster features logos from all the public library systems across the state, a total of 381 libraries. From left are RDL board member Jane Roe, RDL board president Jan Baer, Swearingen, RDL director Virginia Roberts and RDL board member, Tom Kelly.
