STAR JOURNAL REPORT

Kiah Francis recorded both of the Rhinelander High School girls swimming team’s first-place finishes Thursday when the Hodags placed third at a triangular hosted by Wausau East.

Francis won both the 200-yard freestyle (1 minutes, 56.46 seconds) and 100 breaststroke (1:07.99), individually accounting for 12 of RHS’s 37 team points. Wausau East won the meet with 84 points with Chippewa Falls coming in second at 49.

Francis was also part of the Hodags’ only second-place finish when she joined Maddie Quinn, Taylor Macak and Grace Heck in the 200 medley relay (1:59.85).

In the only other relay RHS scored points in, Francis, Heck, Carly Seidl and Marisa McGuire placed third in the 200 freestyle relay (1:48.33).

The Hodags’ two third-place individual finishes came from Heck in the 100 freestyle (59.67) and Macak in the 500 freestyle (6:04.04).

McGuire placed fourth in both the 200 freestyle (2:12.47) and 100 freestyle (1:00.73). The other fourth-place finishes for RHS came from Quinn in the 200 individual medley (2:35.99), Taylor Hollands in the 500 freestyle (6:09.02) and Heck in the 100 backstroke (1:10.27).
