BOYS SOCCER: Hodags to open D2 Regional at Marshfield

STAR JOURNAL REPORT

The Rhinelander High School boys soccer team, which finished the regular season as the Great Northern Conference champion at 8-0-2 in league play and 11-6-2 overall, has received the No. 7 seed in its Division 2 Regional and will open the tournament 4 p.m. Thursday at No. 2-seeded Marshfield.

In their regular-season matchup, the Hodags lost Sept. 27 at Marshfield, 5-1. The playoff winner will advance to Saturday’s second-round Regional game to face the winner between No. 3-seeded Pulaski and No. 6-seeded Menasha.

The other four teams in RHS’s Regional include No. 1-seeded Ashwaubenon facing No. 8-seeded Merrill and No. 4-seeded Wausau East against No. 5-seeded Hortonville. Saturday’s winners advance to the Sectional semifinals Oct. 27 with the Sectional championship game set for Oct. 29.
